Granit Xhaka has swapped his Borussia Mochengladbach shirt, for the red of Arsenal, for a deal believed to be worth £33.1 million.
The Swiss midfielder was at the club on Friday for medicals, and will don the No. 34 shirt, after Coquelin agreed to vacate it.
Arsenal are determined to make a statement next season, and it is obvious with the signing of the 23-year-old before the beginning of the transfer window, as they look to better their second placed finish in the just concluded season.
“I’m very proud to be joining Arsenal,” Xhaka told the club’s official website. “I cannot wait to move to London, represent this special club and play in the Premier League.
“I will give everything to help Arsenal win trophies and make the fans happy.”
Wenger added: “Granit Xhaka is an exciting young player, already with good Champions League and Bundesliga experience. We have been watching him for a long time now and he is a player who will add quality to our squad.
“We wish Granit a good Euro 2016 with Switzerland and look forward to welcoming him to Arsenal ahead of next season.”
