A 19-year-old mother, named only as Nandini, has given birth to the world’s heaviest baby girl in India.
Nandini who weighs 14.5 stone and is 5ft 9 gave birth to her daughter via C-Section and the baby’s weight was at 15 pounds (6.8kg), the size of two babies.
Doctors who attended to the teen-mom called her child a miracle as her daughter was born without complications.
One of the doctors, Venkatesh Raju told local media, “I believe she is not only the heaviest baby born in India but the heaviest baby girl ever born in the world.”
The gynecologist who delivered the baby, Poornima Manu – a colleague to Raju, said the child who didn’t display signs of newborn obesity showed no high sugar levels.
Manu said, “She does not have any health issues like irregular sugar levels or thyroid and is breathing well.”
In 2014 the world’s heaviest female new born was Carisa Rusack, who weighed 14 pounds and five ounces (6.49kg) at the time of her birth in Massachusetts.
There is also the world’s heaviest baby boy who was born to Carmelina Fedele in Italy in 1955 at the weight of 22 pounds and eight ounces (10.2kg).
Fedele’s son is still the world’s heaviest baby on the Guinness World Record, regardless of gender.
