Kim and Vaughn Tucci must be one of the happiest parents on earth after Kim gave birth to five babies all conceived naturally in January.
Since there is a one in fifty-five-million chance of conceiving quintuplets naturally, there joy must be skyhigh.
The Australian mother shared pictures from a photoshoot via her Facebook page Surprised By Five to celebrate her new arrival of four daughters and one son.
To ensure the 26 year-old Perth resident gave birth without complications, a team of fifty doctors and nurses assisted with ensuring the children were born healthy through a planned ceasarean.
Tucci used her Facebook page to promote and share the journey of her pregnancy which caught the eyes of a local business photographer, Erin Elizabeth.
Erin helped document Mrs Tucci’s pregnancy and also organised the quintuplets’ photo shoot.
Tucci captioned the images, “50 fingers 50 toes, 6 hearts beating at once. My body fought the toughest of battles to get five babies here safely,” and in another she wrote, “Everything I did I did for them.”
In April, Tucci had an interview with 60 minutes, an Australian current affairs program where she described how she felt her body was “shutting down” during the pregnancy.
She added that the, ‘doctors originally offered her the choice of saving two of the babies while terminating the others, due to serious health risks to both her and the unborn children’.
Tucci proudly told 60 minutes, “No-one thought I could do it, and I did, I showed everyone in my life.”
The Tuccis already have a nine-year-old son and two daughters aged two and four with the new addition of five, that’s eight mouths to feed.
At least they get a year’s worth of free baby diapers thanks to Huggies, one of the world’s known makers of diapers. There certainly would be other gifts given to the children. A momentous task but we wish the parents of these beautiful babies well.
