The Senator representing Kaduna Central senatorial district, Shehu Sani has denied claims by his colleague, Senator Ben Murray Bruce that he was prevented from exchanging pleasantries with President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential dinner on Monday, May 30, 2016.

Sani’s denial came on the heels of allegations by the lawmaker representing Bayelsa central senatorial district, Senator Bruce, that he (Bruce) was prevented by the Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), from greeting Buhari at a dinner organised for National Assembly members.

Murray Bruce, who is well known for his critical stance on government and criticism of Mr. Buhari, had said on social media:

“I was at the presidential villa today. Went to the President’s table. DSS would not allow me greet him but let another Senator greet him,” Murray-Bruce said.

However, Sani, who is also a very stern critic of the Buhari-led government, however said he did not witness such at the dinner.

In a post on his social media accounts, Senator Sani said:

“He was frank and blunt with us and we were honest with him.

“He addressed us, and those nominated to speak responded, raised issues and asked questions of which he answered. I actually wanted to speak but I was not so lucky.”
