Known by his stage name Shatta Wale but officially named Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr.
For those who don’t know, Shatta Wale is a Ghanaian reggae-dancehall musician and a producer. Christened the ‘Dancehall King’ following his hit single with the same name. Took home one of the most coveted gongs at Ghana Music Awards as Artiste of Year Award in 2014. One of Ghana’s finest and most hard working artist in the business – releasing over 100 songs in 2015 alone.
Been in the music scene for over 10 years but came into full recognition in 2013 after he released a track ‘me no need awards’ which was a direct hit at the organizers of Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2013. It’s stated that the gong for Dancehall Artist of the year went to a female artist rather than himself who was more deserving. This song, made him more known in the industry.
The Dancehall King has been pushed to the edge with “Opana” by the Ayi hitmaker, Criss Waddle for this to happen. He calls this one“Don’t Try” and it is a direct warning to the “Fake American.”
