Michel Platini Resigns As President Of UEFA – Michel Platini has retired from his position as the president of the Union of European Footballing Associations.

The French footballing legend was initially handed an 8-year ban alongside former FIFA president, Sepp Blatter over a £1.25m transaction between the two.

The Court of Arbitration For Sport agreed with the initial FIFA ruling that the payment was “unfair” and a “conflict of interests”, but reduced the length of the ban to 4 years.

Platini had been aggressive over fighting the ban because he didn’t want to miss the UEFA EURO 2016 Championships, but seems to have accepted his fate.
