LMC Fines Kano Pillars N2.4 Million – The League Management Company has fined Kano Pillars N2.4 million over violence from fans during their league game against Enyimba.
Pillars fans had thrown projectiles onto the pitch during the game, forcing policemen to use teargas. The fans attacked the Enyimba team bus after the game, injuring the team’s driver. The LMC thus ruled that the Pillars should also pay damages to both Enyimba and an official who was injured during the fracas.
“LMC established that fans of four-time champions, Pillars were disorderly; throwing objects towards the pitch of play and encroaching,” a statement by the league-overseeing body read.
“Pillars will pay N500K each for throwing objects during the game and encroachment impeding movement out of the arena after the game. An Enyimba official injured during the commotion is to get N250K Pillars money as compensation.
“Pillars to take conduct mandatory seminar on acceptable behaviour for its fans. To be supervised by LMC. Pillars under close watch and placed on suspended 2-match without fans at Kano Stadium if similar incident repeats. Enyimba will get N150K to effect repairs on vehicle damaged in Kano.”
