Kaly Cuoco Slams Zoo Over Harambe’s Death – Actress Kaley Cuoco has lashed out at the officials of a Cincinnati Zoo where a 17-year old gorilla was shot dead.
The gorilla was shot and killed after a 4-year old boy fell in its cage, and the The Big Bang Theory actress has described the zoo officials as “people not using their brains.”
She wrote on her Instagram, alongside a picture of the slain animal: “RIP #harambe Im sure I will get tons of backlash (per usual) I mean let’s be honest, I wear the wrong sweatpants and the entire world has something to say about it, but once again , another senseless horrendous animal being killed over people not using their brains. If you watch the footage, you see this gorgeous animal holding that child’s hand. Do with that ,what you will. As sad as this makes me, a part of me is happy for that amazing creature doesn’t have to live in captivity another day. Bring on the hate!!!! 👍🏼”
Cuoco joins a large number of people who have criticized the decision to kill Harambe, with many saying he should have been tranquilized at worst. However, zoo director Thayne Maynard admitted that an attempt to tranquilize the gorilla would have agitated it and put the boy in danger.
“That would have definitely created alarm in the male gorilla,” Maynard said. “When you dart an animal, anesthetic doesn’t work in one second, it works over a period of a few minutes to 10 minutes. The risk was due to the power of that animal.”
