Jamie Vardy Named Premier League Player Of The Season – Jamie Vardy has been rewarded for his amazing form for Leicester City all season long with the Premier League Player Of The Year Award.
The 29-year old striker was a very key part of Leicester’s surprise league winning campaign, scoring 24 goals as the Foxes racked up win after win.
The 10-man shortlist for the award was made of Vardy’s Leicester City teammates Riyad Mahrez, N’Golo Kante, Kasper Schmeichel and Wes Morgan, Tottenham’s Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Toby Alderweireld, West Ham’s Dimitri Payet and Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil.
The award is Vardy’s second of the season, after winning the Football Writer’s Association Footballer of the Year award. Vardy’s teammate Mahrez, who won the PFA Player of the Year award, won the fan’s player of the year award.
“It is an amazing feeling to have my name on the trophy with the names of legends who have won it in the past. It is an absolute honour,” Vardy said when he received his FWA award on Thursday. “There have been personal highlights, like the goal against Liverpool, but it has been a massive team effort. To be able to have turned up and produced the football we have every single game has been unbelievable for us.”
