The Etisalat-sponsored stage performance, Hear Word! made its debut at Nigeria’s capital, last weekend, after visiting three other cities across the world as part of its international tour.
Featuring a collection of 10 stories, the stage play which is directed and produced by Ifeoma Fafunwa completed its three continent tour which kicked off in April with a grand finale at the Congress Hall of the prestigious Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja. Other destinations visited include the renowned Harvard University in Cambridge Massachusetts, Torp Theater – Central Connecticut State University, New Britain Connecticut both in the USA, as well as the Frascati Theatre in Amsterdam.
The star-studded cast included; Taiwo Ajai-Lycett, Joke Silva, Bimbo Akintola, Omonor, Elvina Ibru, Ufuoma McDermott, Zara Udofia, Rita Edward, Debbie Ohiri and Odenike. Tales spotlighting issues peculiar to the Nigerian woman such as inequality, discrimination, abuse and violence, and other social, cultural, traditional, economic and political indices were brought to the fore.
The performance attracted several dignitaries from various walks of life including the wife of the Vice President, Mrs. Dolapo Osibanjo; Chairman of Etisalat Nigeria, Hakeem Belo-Osagie and his wife, Myma Belo-Osagie; Patron, Etisalat Prize for Literature, Dele Olojede; wife of the Speaker, Federal House of Representatives, Mrs. Gimbiya Yakubu Dogara; Former Vice President of World Bank, Africa and Social Advocate, Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili; President of DEPOWA, Mrs. Omobolanle Olonisakin; National President, NOWA; Mrs. Theresa Ibass; National President, NAFOWA, Mrs. Sadique Abubakar and National President, POWA, Mrs. Agharase Arase, among others.
