The Lagos State Police Command has declared that Mr. Lekan Shonde, the alleged killer husband of Mrs. Ronke Shonde, will be charged to the Ebute Metta Magistrate Court in Lagos, for murder on Friday, May 20, 2016.
The declaration is coming barely a day after the autopsy report conducted by the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) indicated that the deceased died of respiratory seizure and bruises on the head.
ThisDay gathered that at about 8pm, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Dolapo Badmos, confirmed that the suspect now has a case to answer in court, as he will respond to the role he allegedly played in his wife’s death.
Badmos, a Superintendent of Police, said, “The autopsy has revealed that Mr Lekan Shonde, the alleged killer of his wife has case to answer. Therefore he will be charged to court tomorrow (Friday) to answer a charge of murder.”
Lekan will be tried for allegedly killing his wife, Ronke, at their home in the Egbeda-Idimu area of Lagos State, about two weeks ago, in a case of domestic squabble.
The suspect had accused the deceased of sleeping with one Kayode, the general manager of a publishing company. After three days in hiding, Lekan gave himself up to the police.
