BET Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Debra Lee has been appointed to the board of directors of Twitter. This makes her the first Black woman to sit on the board of the social media company.

Twitter had earlier announced that it was making moves to diversify its upper ranks so this new introduction is a welcome example of the company making good on its promise.
