Amuneke Pays Tribute To Late Keshi And Amodu

Flying Eagles coach, Emmanuel Amuneke has stated the boys he is coaching are good enough to win the world cup.

Amuneke was speaking ahead of the match against Burundi and expressed confidence in his squad.

He stated that all the 18 players he selected are fit for the cracker including the 2015 Golden Eaglets goal merchant, Victor Osimhen who was an initial doubt after a shoulder injury during a friendly match with the Dream Team V1 in Abuja last week.

“We are going to Burundi with the aim of winning so that the return leg here will be a mere formality. We have trained very well and ready to go but our long term aim is to end this seeming jinx where despite doing well in the U-17, we are yet to repeat that at the U-20 level. But I am optimistic that with the support of Nigerians we can achieve this goal.”

Despite huge successes at the FIFA U-17 level with five titles, Nigeria is yet to win the FIFA U-20 championship as her best result was the second place finish at the Saudi ’89 tournament.
