We got really familiar with this designer through Bonang Matheba.
During the SAFTAS Gert-Johan Coetzee was the go to for most of the celebrities. So of course, we looked forward to his Spring/Summer 2016 collection and it’s everything we expected.
The colors truly give a spring vibe, the models have flower crowns on their head and the prints have a summertime feel. Gert-Johan Coetzee’s collection is about beautiful sun dresses, shift dress as well as pencil and maxi dresses. The dresses have great details and cut out petals sewn in to give the overall spring/summer vibe.
The color arrangement on the runway went from bright colors to mid-tone and then black which was interesting to look at. There was a gold dress with high side slit that just had the best details ever.
Speaking on the collection the designer said; “The collection is inspired by a regal African queen. The trend for the season is all about the 70s, as well as suede and frills dripping to the floor with a lot of volume. You will be seeing a lot of that on the ramp as well as high-voltage, red carpet wear.”
