Everton manager Roberto Martinez has played down quotes from his striker Romelu Lukaku that appeared to cast doubt on his future at the club.
While on international duty with Belgium, Lukaku said he wants to play Champions League football next season, but Martinez responded today: “That should be the aspiration for everyone. We want to be in the Champions League and we want to be competing for titles.
“Nothing will take away from the concentration on the final two months. Romelu Lukaku is having a fantastic season and that is the only thing that matters.
“The speculation surrounding Romelu Lukaku comes from him having a good season. He can make it an outstanding one in the last two months.”
