The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has declared Dipo Eluwole of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), winner of the Ife Central House of Assembly legislative rerun election. He is to fill the vacant seat at the Osun State House of Assembly.
The seat became vacant following the death of the Minority Leader, Mr. Oladejo Makinde of the PDP on December 27, 2015.
The by-election was conducted on Saturday. However, INEC declared the poll inconclusive because results from two polling units were cancelled and a rerun election was conducted on Sunday.
Announcing the results, today, the Commission’s Returning Officer, Francis Oladimeji said Mr. Eluwole scored 5,504 votes, while Adetillewa Sijuwade of APC had 4,587 votes.
Mr. Olademji said that Olusegun Fanibe of Accord Party polled 4,790 votes, Rafiu Anifowose of CPP, 91 votes; Serah Elujulo of NPPP, 11 votes and Segun Adefarare of NNPP, 25 votes.
Following the victory, the PDP now retains the two seats it earlier won during the general election in 2015.
