Warriors Set Record For Most Regular Season Wins – In one of the emotional season finales of all time, the Golden State Warriors set a record for the most regular season wins.
With Kobe Bryant retiring on the same night, the Warriors faced the Grizzlies with a chance to win their 73rd game of the season, one more than the record Michael Jordan set with the Bulls in 1996.
The Warriors went after the record aggressively, with Curry making sure there were no slip ups. The potential MVP ended the game with 46 points, and became the first NBA player ever to make 400 3-point baskets in one season.
“It’s a great way to finish off what was an amazing regular season,” Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said. “I just told our guys I never in a million years would have guessed that that record would ever be broken. I thought it was like DiMaggio’s hit streak, really. I was wrong, but I will say the same thing now that I said 20 years ago, ‘I don’t think this one will ever be broken.’ Somebody’s got to go 74-8. I don’t see it, and I hope our fans aren’t expecting that next year.”
