Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio has been ruled out of the Euro 2016 after an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
The midfielder was forced off in the 4-0 thrashing of Palermo after landing awkwardly.
Juventus have now confirmed an MRI scan has been done and surgery will be needed.
Marchisio has been capped 54 times by Italy, whose Euro 2016 campaign kicks off against Belgium on June 13.
Meanwhile, Juventus moved nine points clear at the top of Serie A with the win over Palermo.
