After a 1-1 first leg last week in Germany, the match was poised finely, and Dortmund showed their desire to qualify for the semi-finals as they scored two goals in the first 10 minutes. Pierre Emerick Aubameyang set up Henrik Mkhitaryan in the 5th minute for the first goal, with Aubameyang scoring his 4 minutes later.

Liverpool came out fighting after half time, with Divock Origi scoring to halve the deficit 3 minutes after the restart. Dortmund responded soon after, after a Marco Reus strike took the lead back to two goals. It seemed to be a forgone game with Dortmund having scored 3 away goals, but goals from Philippe Coutinho, Mahmadou Sakho and a 90th minute winner from Dejan Lovren completed an epic night at Anfield.
