The Jungle Book Debuts Big At Box Office – Disney’s recent successes at the Box Office continued with a big opening for it’s latest movie, The Jungle Book.
The Jungle Book which has an all-star cast of Bill Murray, Idris Elba, Lupita Nyong’o, Scarlett Johansson, Ben Kingsley and Christopher Walken, grossed an estimated $103.6 million in its first weekend.
That figure is enough to make the Disney classic tale the second highest-grossing April opening of all time. The top spot belongs to Furious 7, which grossed $147.2 million in its opening weekend last April.
The Jungle Book had a very large gap on second-placed Barbershop: The Next Cut, which grossed $20.2 million over the weekend. The Next Cut is the 3rd movie in the franchise, after 2002’s Barbershop and 2004’s Barbershop 2: Back In Business.
Melisa McCarthy’s The Boss was disappointing in 3rd place, with Dawn Of Justice and Zootopia rounding out the top 5.
