Ibrahimovic To Sue For Doping Allegations

Mino Raiola had stated PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic will sue former Swedish athletics coach Ulf Karlsson for defamation of character.

Karlsson is reported to have said: “Zlatan put on 10 kilos in six months [earlier in his career]. I think he was doping, that’s how it seems to me.”

Ibrahimovic will make no comment on the allegations but his agent revealed he will look to take legal action.

Raiola told Swedish paper Expressen: “We will sue him. I’m not an expert, but we have a Swedish lawyer. We are not saying who the lawyer is. That will come later.

“There are always people who hate. Maybe [Dr Karlsson] is a former athlete who failed. Maybe he’s jealous.

“This man has made a big mistake. He will have had a life before this statement, and a life after it. He is spreading falsehoods.

“We had plenty of doping controls [during the alleged period]. Zlatan was tested between 15 and 20 times. He was tested all the time.

“It’s ridiculous. The facts are not there. We can prove that it is not true.

“At all the clubs Zlatan has been at, he doesn’t even take aspirin!”

In an interview with nwt.se later on Thursday, Karlsson defended his comments and explained his stance towards Ibrahimovic.

Earlier the press officer of the Sweden national team moved to dismiss Karlsson’s allegations with a statement that read: “To say something like that without evidence, it is for me very startling and surprising. I do not want to speculate or touch Karlsson’s claim, but it sounds completely absurd in my ears.”

Ibrahimovic was in action for PSG on Wednesday night during the 2-2 Champions League draw with Manchester City in Paris, scoring once but also missing a penalty.
