DStv Premium Open Week; It’s For Real (Exclusive Interview with GM Marketing & Sales)

share on:

Due to unfounded rumors spreading that the DStv Premium Open Week is a scam, we bring to you an exclusive 360NoBS.com interview with Martin Mabutho; GM Marketing and Sales, MultiChoice Nigeria. He confirms that the DStv OPEN WEEK package is REAL.

  1. I picked up some DStv Open Week information online. Some people think it’s a scam. Is it for real?

Yes it’s very real. From today, 14 April to 21 April, select Premium channels will be available to active customers across all DStv bouquets; Compact Plus, Compact, Family and Access.

  1. I don’t understand. What do you mean by select Premium channels?

What this means is that those channels which are normally only available to Premium customers will be open to customers on the lower bouquets for one week at no extra cost.

  1. Will all the Premium channels be open?

All but the M-Net channels on the Premium bouquet will window down to the lower priced bouquets during the open week.

  1. Why not the M-Net channels?

We were not able to conclude agreements with various M-Net content providers before we launched this offer.

  1. Altogether how many Premium channels will be open to the lower bouquets?

Over 40 Premium channels will be available to the lower bouquets (with Access customers enjoying the widest access to Premium content), including all the SuperSport channels and the AfricaMagic channels.

  1. Will customers on the lower bouquets be able to watch any new series premiere during the open week?

They most certainly will. It means that sensational new telenovela Hush, and The Voice Nigeria, will now be available to customers across all our bouquets, all the way to the Access bouquet, which is our entry level bouquet. Soccer fans on the lower bouquets will also be able to catch the Chelsea vs. Manchester City match on SuperSport 3 (DStv channel 223) on Saturday, 16 April, as well as highlights of UEFA and FA Cup.

  1. I like the sound of all these, how come MultiChoice hasn’t done this before?

As a matter of fact, we have open weekends from time to time, just that this time it’s an entire week. It’s an opportunity for subscribers on lower priced bouquets, to experience content on the Premium bouquet. Our Premium bouquet is home to the most exciting content. It contains the best series, movies, sports, documentaries and more.

  1. If you open up the Premium bouquet for the lower priced bouquets, what then is the plan for Premium subscribers?

There are 1000 Explora decoders up for grabs, exclusively for our Premium customers. Two Exploras will be won every hour for 21 working days. This means that 48 decoders will be given away everyday. The winners will be drawn randomly from the pool of active Premium customers.

  1. That’s excellent news

I couldn’t agree more.

  1. What’s the catch? Why are you doing this?

There’s no catch. As I said earlier, from time to time, we window down content to subscribers on lower bouquets as a reward mechanism.

Additionally, the DStv Premium Open Week follows recent initiatives by MultiChoice where the EPL, La Liga and Euro 2016 were made available to Compact subscribers at no extra cost and NO price increases were implemented on DStv bouquets in Nigeria on 01 April. Both these initiatives are some of the innovative ways MultiChoice is adding more value to our subscribers’ video entertainment experience, irrespective of their subscription plan.

At MultiChoice, we understand that times are tough for our subscribers who not only want to experience the best television entertainment but do so at a price they can afford. Our DStv bouquets allow subscribers flexibility in price and choice without compromising quality or variety.

  1. Thank you for clarifying

It has been my genuine pleasure.
