President Muhammadu Buhari has on Thursday received details of the 2016 Appropriation Bill from the National Assembly.
The document, it was gathered, was on Wednesday submitted to the clerk of the National Assembly for onward transmission by the chairmen of the Appropriations Committees of the Senate and House of Representatives, Danjuma Goje and Abdulmumin Jibrin respectively.
It was then delivered to the Presidential Villa by the Senior Special Assistants to the President on National Assembly Matters, Ita Enang and Kawu Sumaila, at about 12:05pm on Thursday.
Enang said: “The budget details have been transmitted to His Excellency, Mr. President today. The constitutional process begins thereafter. “We have transmitted it to the Office of the President and the constitutional process of timing starts.”
The details of the 2016 budget estimates were received by the Chief of Staff to President Buhari, Abba Kyari on behalf of the President.
It will be recalled that the 2016 budget which was submitted by the president on December 22, 2015 before a joint session of the National Assembly, was approved on March 23, with only the highlights transmitted.
On receiving the highlights, the president insisted on seeing the details before signing the 2016 appropriation bill into law.
