BREAKING! Army Appoints Brig-Gen, Kazaure As New DG Of NYSC In Massive Shake Up

There are indications of a massive shake up in the Nigerian Army, with reports emerging that Brigadier-General S.Z. Kazaure has been asked to replace Brigadier-General Johnson Bamidele Olawunmi as the new Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

This is even as Major-General H. Umaru is appointed the Chief of Training and Operations at the Army Headquarters.

According to a posting and appointment letter dated April 11, 2016, obtained and published by Daily Sun on April 13, Major- General L.E. Irabor, will remain as commander Operation Lafia Dole, while Brigadier-General Olawunmi will move to the Nigerian Army School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, as acting commandant.

The letter also said Brigadier-Generals J.E. Ejeh is the commander, 81, Division Garrisson, K.O. Oburo, PSO, logistics office of the Chief of Army Staff, M.O. Jimoh, commander, headquarters 31, Brigade, M. J. Abel, commandant, general workshop, Y.P. Auta, commander, 81, Brigade, H.I. Bature, DD, plans, Army Headquarters, and I. A. Quadri, PSO, combat arms, office of the COAS.

Also appointed are Brigadier-Generals S. P. Akpan, Chief of Staff, Command Army Records, T. J. Kareem, member training team among other appointments.

As at press time, the management of the NYSC has not officially made any announcement in connection to the development.

The development is coming barely a day after Brig-Gen Olawunmi issued a statement on the Scheme’s online portal with respect to the delay in March allowance for its Youth Corps Members.
