Barcelona 1 – 2 Real Madrid – Real Madrid breathed life into their dying La Liga title chase with a 2-1 victory over Barcelona at the Camp Nou.
With Barcelona leading Real Madrid with 10 points in the standings, a loss would have cemented a failed La Liga campaign for Zinedine Zidane’s men.
Barcelona dominated what ended a scoreless first half, and were rewarded after the restart as defender Gerard Pique put them ahead in the 56th minute. Real came back quickly, with Karim Benzema pulling the visitors level with an acrobatic strike.
Barcelona seemed to have it all going their way, with a Gareth Bale goal being ruled out and captain Sergio Ramos being sent off for a second bookable offence moments later. However, it would be Real Madrid to celebrate, with Cristiano Ronaldo grabbing what proved to be the winner 5 minutes from time.
The loss meant Barcelona’s unbeaten streak ended at 39, and a glimmer of hope for Real Madrid’s title chase.
