Arsene Wenger has confirmed Arsenal are in talks with Alex Iwobi over a new contract.
The 19-year-old academy graduate has made a seamless transition into the Gunners first team, scoring two goals in two Premier League starts for the north Londoners.
Iwobi still has three years left to run on his current contract at the Emirates, but Wenger has revealed Arsenal are keen to improve the youngster’s deal.
“We are discussing it at the moment, yes, to extend him,” the Frenchman said. “I think he is a real Arsenal person. He has been here since the age of eight.
“He has, anyway, three years left at the end of the season but we want, of course, to keep him here for longer.
“And overall, there are lots of positives in the last few months about how quickly he emerged as being a player with a good impact.”
