Yunusa Dahiru, Ese Oruru’s Abductor Granted Bail

A Federal High Court sitting in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state, has granted Ese Oruru’s abductor, Yunusa Dahiru, N3 million bail.

Yunusa is standing trial for abducting 14 year old Ese from Bayelsa and taking her to Kano state where he forcefully married her and then converted her to Islam. At the hearing of his bail application today March 21st, the presiding judge, Justice H.A. Nganjiwa, ruled that part of the conditions for his bail to be fulfilled included provision of two sureties in like sum, sureties must be resident within the jurisdiction of the court while one must be a civil servant of not less that level 12 while the second must be a title holder.

The judge further said that the sureties must provide tax clearance for the past three years. Yunusa will be remanded in prison until his bail conditions are met.
