A Bangladeshi woman cut her boyfriend’s heart out to see its size after he rejects her for other women.
21 year-old Fatema Akhter Sonali did a surgical on her lover, Emdadul Haq Shipon, after slashing his throat. She has been sentenced to death, a Bangladeshi court ruled, Tuesday.
If exerted, Akhter Sonali will be the first woman to die by death sentence in the country.
The young woman acted vengefully when the man she had been seeing refused to marry her while sleeping with numerous other women. Shipon also kept video recordings of her while they were having sex.
Prosecutor Quazi Shabbir Ahmed said Sonali had trailed her man for a while before consciously carrying out the deed.
Video footage of him having sex with her and with other women were also found on his laptop.
Sonali’s sentence was decided in court in the southwestern city of Khulna.
During her confession, the wrathful woman revealed: “She spiked a soft drink with 20 sleeping pills and gave it to Shipon. When he fell unconscious, she bound his hands and feet before killing him by slitting his throat. She then cut open his chest and removed his heart”.
She said: “I wanted to see how big his heart was. A man must have a big heart to carry out such audacious crimes”.
Sonali murdered the 28-year-old part-time lift attendant at a hospital in March 2014 and has the option to challenge the sentence in a higher court.
A deputy inspector general of prisons, Tipu Sultan said: “If her execution goes ahead she will be the first woman to be hanged in Bangladesh”.
Speaking to the press, Ahmed said; “It’s rare for a woman to be sentenced to death. But her case was exceptional. She admitted to the court she killed her lover, Emdadul Haq Shipon, for refusing to marry her and for keeping a recording video of their sexual intercourse in his laptop.”
