Buhari dismayed after Umarari mosque attack – President Muhammad Buhari has expressed his sadness after two suicide attacks on a mosque in Umarari village.
Umarari village is located on the outskirts of Maiduguri. At least 40 casualties were recorded in the two bomb blasts, including 22 fatalities.
“I am dismayed by the news of a bomb attack on innocent worshippers in a mosque in Maiduguri this morning,” President Buhari said after the attacks.
“This attack is yet another sign that Boko Haram is a mindless and godless group that in no way represents true Islam.”
“Nigerians should please not let down their guard. Vigilance should continue to be a priority, especially in public places.”
The president also expressed sympathy for those “who lost family and loved ones in the attack, and with the government and people of Borno State.”
