Melanin Monday – I want every black child to know they are beautiful – Anonymous
Melanin Monday aims to reach out to the young-ins this week. To teach them from an early age that ”the ability to love oneself is the best gift of all”.
It’s ridiculous to discover parents now bleach their children’s skin. How low some have fallen away from the pride of their skin.
Black babies are really beautiful. The baby girls especially in their early years as they learn to wear their natural curls.
Few years on and they would be drawn into an abyss of insecurity and longing to tone their skin as the society around them seems to make them hate their color.
Reminding them everyday that in order to ‘make’ it you have to be lighter else, ‘you no follow’. What a shallow way of thinking.
The question is, who do black skinned girls want to attract? If they are to attract their kind, why should the men make their women feel so insecure they have to alter their beauty for them?
If it isn’t the men oppressing these women, then maybe black women are just unnecessarily insecure. These women should learn to be more confident. They shouldn’t let insecure socialites and celebrities or friends lead them astray.
If the skin color is taken away from those who have bleached, one would see them for what they really are. Vessels of Vanity!
Color fades, Confidence is everlasting.
Teach your sons to love their black women from an early age. Teach your daughters they do not need to use chemicals to enhance their skin to attract anyone. There are more important things in life.
Black people are proud; therefore, endeavor to teach these kids to have confidence in their skin and focus on building their minds and intellects rather than subjecting themselves to the mediocrity of vanity.
