Manchester United have condemned the supporters who sang offensive chants in the Europa League defeat to Liverpool on Thursday.
Offensive chants referencing the stadium disasters at Hillsborough and Heysel in the 1980s could be loudly heard at Anfield.
The supporters accountable for the chants have been met with criticism, with United vowing to put a stop to it by holding talks with supporter groups.
“I have the pleasure to confirm I have committed to a legendary English club, with the massive challenge of remaining part of the Premier League,” the manager said, according to a Newcastle statement.
“It will be a challenge not just for me and my staff but for the players, the Club and the fans.
