Manchester United head manager, Louis van Gaal insists captain Wayne Rooney is not close to a return.
Rooney has been out with a knee injury since the middle of February and is expected to be out for two months.
However, the Dutch manager says the England international is not close to a return to action, casting further doubt on his possible involvement in the Euro 2016.
“Wayne still has weeks to go. He is not even close. I cannot say how many weeks, as you never know,” Van Gaal told reporters.
“It is a conservative healing what we are doing with the brace, not an operation or something like that.”
Rooney had already been ruled out of England’s friendlies against Germany and Netherlands in March.
