The First Lady of Nigeria, Aisha Buhari has reacted to an allegation by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that she is among those involved in the ‘spiralling inflation’ in foreign exchange, forex.
She also denied being involved in forex dealings, hence could not have been a beneficiary of an alleged $22million allocation from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The PDP had on Saturday via its verified Twitter handle: @PdpNigeria, posted that Mrs Buhari and some aides of President Muhammadu Buhari were beneficiaries of dollar allocations from the Governor of the CBN, Mr Godwin Emefiele, even alleging that they got the dollars below the official exchange rate of N197.
However, in a swift reaction to the allegations via her Twitter handle @aishambuhari, the wife of the president described the claim as false and unfounded especially as it was without evidence, saying she has never been involved in “any illegal dealings”.
In a series of tweets, she said.
Be advised, any further attempt to malign the person of the Wife of the President will be dealt with according to the law
This is grounds for a lawsuit on defamation of character.
Making false and unfounded allegations without proof just to incite Nigerians on social media is wrong.
