Gwen Stefani, “This Is What The Truth Feels Like” is her first album in Ten years
Gwen Stefani releases album titled “This Is What The Truth Feels Like”, Friday.
Her previous albums as a solo artiste include, Love. Angel. Music. Baby. L.A.M.B (2004) and The Sweet Escape (2006).
She confessed in Time Magazine : “It was really a life-saver record for me. It wasn’t until I had to go through the worst tragedy that it really opened up a channel for me to be like, ‘God gave me a gift. I’m going to use it now. Because if I don’t, I’m going to die.’”
“I’ve really been trying to exercise my spiritual side in the last year. I scraped myself off the floor and went into the studio and tried to somehow be alive again.”
Her first solo album ‘Love Angel Music Baby’ in 2004 certified Gwen Stefani as the ‘Confessional Queen Of Pop’ after being called the same name by Rolling Stone in late 2000.
Originally starting her music career with older brother, Eric, the group was called No Doubt and later went on to sell over a hundred million albums world wide.
Born on October, 3, 1969, the roman-catholic raised star grew up listening to folk stars like Bob Dylan and Emmylou Harris.
Second child of four children, Gwen Stefani formed the group with older brother Eric who was the team’s keyboardist. Soon after Stefani joined No Doubt, she and bandmate Tony Kanal began dating.
Stefani stated that she was heavily invested in the relationship, commenting that “all I ever did was look at Tony and pray that God would let me have a baby with him.”
During this time, the band almost split up because of the failed romantic relationship between Stefani and Kanal. Kanal ended the relationship.
Their break-up inspired Stefani lyrically, and many of the album’s songs, such as “Don’t Speak”, “Sunday Morning”, and “Hey You”, chronicle the ups and downs of their relationship.
Gwen Stefani met recently divorced-husband, Gavin Rossdale in mid-1995 when her group ‘No doubt’ went on tour to open for Gavin’s rock-band, ‘Bush’. He was the band’s guitarist and lead singer.
