Remi Garde has left relegation threatened Aston Villa by mutual consent, five months after taking over the club.

Villa sit 20th on the table, and are facing possible relegation, winning just three matches this season.

Eric Black, who got promoted to the first team, will take over, till a permanent fixture is made.

“The Club would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Remi for all his efforts during a difficult period and wish him well in the future,” a Villa statement reads.

Villa have lost six matches in a row, scoring just two goals in the process, and are 12 points from safety in the English top flight.

Villa have now employed five permanent managers in less than six years, with only Paul Lambert remaining in the job for more than 12 months.
