Johan Cruyff Dies Of Lung Cancer – Dutch football legend Johan Cruyff has passed on at the age of 68 after a battle with lung cancer.
A statement on his personal website reads: “On March 24 2016 Johan Cruyff (68) died peacefully in Barcelona, surrounded by his family after a hard fought battle with cancer. It’s with great sadness that we ask you to respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief.”
Cruyff achieved fame and success both as a player and manager. He played for Ajax, Barcelona and Feyenoord, winning 10 league titles and scoring over 360 goals. As a manager, he also led Ajax and Barcelona to multiple trophies.
Cruyff won the Ballon D’Or 3 times, and was named in the FIFA 100 and World’s Greatest XI of all time.
