Emeka Ike has now been made the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, following a court ruling that stripped actress, Ibinabo Fiberesima, of the position.
A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on March 23 had ruled that she be removed from the position and that Ike should now take the rein of power after a long legal battle.
Her removal was also confirmed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the National Secretary of AGN, Femi Durojaiye.
The statement read: “The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos at the application and argument of Counsel to Actors Guild of Nigeria, Barr. Peter Andor Oboyi, struck out Ibinabo’s and Board of Trustees, BoT suit challenging the nullification of her election to the Presidency of AGN and also challenging the legitimacy of the Presidency of Emeka Ike and his exco.
“The implication of this judgment is that Engr. Emeka Ike led exco remains the only authentic and lawful leaders of Actors Guild of Nigeria.
“The Honourable Court vehemently reiterated the position of the judicial authority that, Ibinabo, her purported exco members and the Board of Trustees vacate forthwith the office of AGN both at the National and State level.
“Accordingly, also surrender all AGN assets at their unlawful possession to the incumbent Engr Emeka Ike’s Government,”
It will be recalled, the Court of Appeal, had last week, upheld the 5-year jail term of Fiberesima, over the accidental murder of Dr. Giwa Suraj in a car accident which took place a decade ago.
