There is no stopping the world’s favourite bajan star, Rihanna. In the last month, and just about 64days into 2016, the singer/designer has added a shoe design collaboration with king shoemaker, Manolo Blahnik.
The collaboration was revealed yesterday via British Vogue as the style bible released its cover of April issue with Rihanna on the cover photographed by the one and only Mario Testino. Although the cover doesn’t show off the designed shoes, it shows RiRi in close up look, wearing all white almost reminiscent of Will Smith in the movie ‘Wild Wild West’ but a much more sexier version.
Of the collaboration, Rihanna who is also the designer of Fenty x Puma (a collaboration with Puma) said, “The day I see a woman in the street wearing my shoes… I am sorry for that woman because I’m going to literally run after her, shouting, ‘Stop! Selfie! Who are you? Where did you get them?’ I’m going to have a moment!”
Manolo said of the collaboration named Denim Desserts “This is an incredibly exciting collaboration and I am absolutely thrilled with the results – working with Rihanna has been amazing and her drive, passion, creativity and style has been reflected in the designs, with fabulous results.”
As the name of the collection implies, the fashion duo has used denim as the main material, creating six limited edition designs (pictures below) comprising of a long thigh-high boot, ankle boot and sandals. Each design embellished with sequins or beads. The shoes would be available in London, New York and Hong Kong stores from 5th of May 2016, according to British Vogue via vogue.co.uk.
Rihanna models one of the shoes, the sexiest pair of course, a pair of thigh-high crystal-embellished boots in one of the released editorial as seen in the image below where she pairs the ‘chaps’ boot with an embellished denim jacket in the way only Rihanna can.
The British Vogue starring Rihanna on the cover would be available from the 10th of March.
My thoughts about the designs, I feel like there could have been more, I especially love the thigh-high boots but wondering how the hell one would wear it in reality besides using it in an editorial. I would really love to see it.
