Carlos Tevez admits it was difficult rejecting Atletico Madrid before he moved back to boyhood club Boca Juniors last year.
Tevez opted to return to his homeland last summer just one month after featuring for Juventus in the Champions League final against Barcelona.
When asked if Atletico Madrid had made him an irresistible offer, he told Marca: “Yes. ‘El Cholo’ (Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone) called me and it was a prospect that really excited me.
“Playing in Spain is one of the things missing from my career, but I couldn’t say no [to Boca] at that stage. I could have played in Spain for a couple of years – I knew that Atleti would be challenging for the league title and the Champions League.
“That offer from Atlético was the only one I had from Spain in my last year in Europe. Real Madrid had been interested previously.”
