Shilan, 21-year-old bride is shot dead after she rejected an arranged marriage to her cousin. This event occurred in Hanover, Germany.
Her Kurdish father posted a picture of her lying in a pool of blood on his Facebook page and he is demanding justice.
In his post, Ghazi, who is 50 years old made it clear that his darling daughter Shilan rejected an arranged marriage to her cousin and has now paid for it with her life.
He explained that his Kurdish family fled Iraq to Germany when Shilan was only three years old. She grew up a self-confident young woman and has German citizenship, studying Property Management at a college in Hanover.
He added that his two brothers, Numan H. and Hassan H., tried to arrange a forced marriage for Shilan to her cousin Sefin, 22, but she refused.
She made it clear to her father that she didn’t love the man, and rejected the suggestion.
He had left her and the rest of his family in his brother’s care while working on a project in Iraq.
His brother went behind his back and decided to marry off his son to Shilan. When he returned, he said: ‘She begged me to do something and so I cancelled the engagement.’
The atrocious act took place at about 10pm on March 13. Police have a warrant for the arrest of Sefin.
