The judges were in a good mood last time around_0The guest performance for the night was by ‘Orente’ crooner and Nigerian recording artiste, Adekunle Gold, who thrilled the audience with his 2015 hit song ‘Shade. His performance was closely followed by that of Pascal who was the first of the contestants to step on stage. He gave a wonderful rendition of ‘Mapenzi’ by Kidum. The Swahili song was well interpreted by the Kenyan and he got rave reviews from the judges especially Yemi Alade for his performance.

The second contestant to go on stage was Shapeera and she didn’t disappoint as she delivered a remarkable performance of Brenda Fassie’s ‘Umuntu Ngumuntu Ngabuntu’. Her performance was full of life and was reminiscent of the energy and stage craft of the late south African legend, a fact the judges attested to. Even the host Vimbai was impressed and said she hope her performance won’t have an adverse effect on the performance of the contestants yet to grace the stage.

Sikin was next on stage and she sang ‘Soweto Blues’ by Miriam Makeba. Her performance was an emotional one and Yemi Alade confessed that her rendition left her teary-eyed. Nandy sang next and she gave what some believe was the best rendition of the night as she sang Vanessa Mdee’s ‘Hawajui’. Her stagecraft was so good that she brought up someone from the audience to dance with her during her performance. The judges appreciated her performance and MI particularly mentioned that she will be a superstar very soon.

After the performances of the four contestants, Adekunle Gold stepped on stage once again to thrill the audience with his new songs. Thereafter, the judges announced that one of the contestants that was previously evicted from the show in person of Yubu has been recalled for a chance to fight for a place in the finals of the show. The Kenyan gave an eclectic performance which was still not good enough to get him to Sunday’s Grand Finale as the judges opted to keep faith with Nandy, Shaapera, Sikin and Pascal.

The power of the judges however ends in this episode and who emerges winner is entirely left to the public and viewers of the show who can vote for who their favourite contestant on the #TECNOOwnTheStage website.
