President Muhammadu Buhari, who was a special guest at the 40th anniversary of Ogun state, took a trip down memory lane in Abeokuta, on Tuesday, February 2, when he recalled the role he played in the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Speaking during the occasion, President Buhari reminisced on his appointment by Obasanjo as the Minister of Petroleum and how the ex-president tolerated him for three and half years.
He said: “I express my thanks to General Obasanjo, who, as Head of State, made me Minister of Petroleum and tolerated me for three-and-half-years.
“He tolerated me because God knows and he knows that I am not used to working as hard as he used to, but he allowed me to last that long and allowed me to work.”
“If you go into records, that government made so much investment and infrastructural development in the petroleum industry.
“Two refineries were built, Warri and Kaduna. More than 20 depots were built; more than 3,500 pipelines were laid; and we were exporting refined products of 100,000 barrels per day. But what do we have today?”
The president was also thrilled to a joke on Armsgate by Ace Nigerian Comedian, Alibaba.
Alibaba said, ”When Obasanjo was the president of Nigeria, and he asked me (Alibaba) about my performance fee, I told him. Obasanjo called me a thief, saying the performance fee is too high. Now that it is Buhari’s administration, they asked me (Alibaba) for my performance fee, I just told them to give me any amount they want to give. Dasuki is still in custody and he has not stopped mentioning names…Make dem no go mention my name join.”
