A fitness instructor in India has shot and killed a man who expressed annoyance about loud music blaring from his New Delhi gym, Agence France-Presse (AFP) reports on Thursday.

The instructor, simply identified as Rinku, and his friends were listening to music inside the gym on Monday evening when a local resident Hardeep Singh demanded that he turn down the volume.

An English daily, The Hindu quoted an unnamed police officer as saying: “When Hardeep went to the gym asking them to end the party or at least lower the volume, Rinku started abusing Hardeep.”

The victim reportedly threatened to complain about the noise to authorities and returned to his apartment. A while later the group showed up at his front door.

“When Hardeep came out, the two had an argument, followed by a scuffle. Rinku then fired at Hardeep,” the officer added.

Singh, who is an editor for a local journal, was rushed to hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The fitness instructor and his friends are currently on the run as the Police Command in India have registered a murder case against them.
