A top detective of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is now cooling off in the den of Nigeria’s anti-corruption agency, following his involvement with some politicians that are being probed by the agency.
According to Daily Sun, the operative (name withheld) is being interrogated by an investigative team of the commission in Abuja, following his alleged illicit deals with some politicians, who are being probed by the anti-graft agency.
It was gathered that he was apprehended over alleged bribery by one of the politicians under investigation.
His arrest came barely one week after another operative was picked for allegedly collecting money from some military officers under probe.
Sources close to the polity stated that the latest suspect was believed to have struck a deal with a politician from one of the northern States to tamper with the case file of a matter in court with the intention to either weaken the agency’s case against the suspects or remove the file.
Unfortunately for the suspect, the deal, which had been sealed, was said to have been blown up by some operatives, who had been detailed to monitor the suspect’s unusual movements and phone calls.
The residence of the suspect was raided and some incriminating items were recovered before and after the raid by a team of the commission’s detectives.
The team was said to have uncovered other ‘unbecoming acts’ of the suspect, including his contacts with some politicians in other parts of the country.
