FirstBank of Nigeria is passionate about the arts and is committed to promoting the Creative Arts Industry through its strategic initiative- First@arts. To make this happen, it is partnering with the British Council as part of the UK/Nigeria 2015-16 season of arts to organize the Lagos Theatre Festival 2016.

The Lagos Theatre Festival will take place from February 22nd to 28th at the following venues: Agip Recital Hall MUSON, Ayo Bankole Centre, Bogobiri, British Council, Ten venues within Freedom Park (Ten venues), Mindscapes Children Museum, TerraKulture and UNILAG. It will be a festival of Six days, over Fifteen venues with over 100 performances.

Highlights of the festival include: Every Single Day, a play exploring what it means to be a woman in the 21st century in a society reluctant to adopt global ideals about equality, The Wait , where they explore the theme of inter class marriage. All the stories this year capture the realities of the upwardly mobile Lagosian and their stories.

As a special, the festival highlights also include International plays, two of which are: I Dream of Lagos,  a play by British company Invisible Flock, delivered through mobile phones and Purge , an international play where you can keep or delete a social media personality’s followers – which has been billed as the” world’s most brutal game of friendship maintenance”.

The festival has something for everyone showcasing productions cutting across music, dance, drama, as well as family-friendly storytelling and performance pieces.
