‘Coaches Get No Respect’: Guardiola Hits Out At German Press

share on:

Pep Guardiola who is about to leave Bayern Munich, has expressed his displeasure at the German media.

Earlier this week it was announced that Guardiola will be joining Manchester City, and his prematch press conference before the weekend clash with Bayer Leverkusen was filled with questions about his future and prompted an angry response from Guardiola.

“Coaches don’t get any respect anymore. It doesn’t matter what we say,” he told the media. “Why don’t you write about the wonderful words I say to my players before games?

“I don’t know why coaches even give press conferences anymore. There are important papers here that have not even asked me questions about the sport.

“It was the right decision not to give [individual] interviews. Journalists must know why they are here. I love to talk about tactics – back three, back four and so on.”

Guardiola’s men lead the Bundesliga by eight points over Dortmund, while weekend opponents Leverkusen are battling for a Champions League berth.
