Perhaps smarting up from the #NigeriansOwnThestage VS #KenyansOwnThestage war on twitter, MI and Bien and took shots at one another over the performance of the representatives of their respective countries. The tone for what will happen on the night was set by the host of the show for the night, Vimbai Mutinhiri, who announced that the contestants will be performing songs which were originally written by the three judges – MI, Bien-Aimé Baraza and Yemi Alade.
The stage for the swipe was set when the Kenyan Ramar254 stepped on stage to perform a single by Sauti Sol titled ‘Money Lover’. Bien was critical of his country man has he criticised him for missing his lines during his performance. This fact was however turned to a joke by MI who jokingly blamed Bien by saying “I don’t know who wrote that song. I don’t know what group sang that song but that was a terrible piece of music.”
This elicited laughter from the audience but Bien was meant to have his day too as another Kenyan in person of Pascal performed MI’s ‘One Naira’. The Kenyan also fluffed his lines and despite praises from MI was reminded of that fact by the Nigerian judge. Bien was however quick to praise his country man for his performance saying he gave a good delivery of the song especially since “he had never heard, and from an artiste he had previously never heard of.”
This also had the in house audience reeling with laughter. As the rivalry gets intense, who do you think will carry the day between the Nigerian and three remaining Kenyans? Which of these countries truly own the stage?
