Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has stated that Thierry Henry was his hero growing up.
Lewandowski came in fourth behind the trio in the Ballon d’Or and is taken to the Frenchman.
Henry is currently Arsenal’s highest goalscorer, with 228 goals in 377 appearances.
He told Telefoot: “I’ve always tried to follow the example of Henry, my childhood hero. His technique, his celebrity, he has always impressed me.”
The Poland international played a pivotal role in his country’s qualification through to Euro 2016 in France this summer, finishing top goalscorer with 13 goals – and he insists they will fear no team.
“Winning the Euros? Perhaps it’s too early,” he continued. “But our team doesn’t fear anyone. It will be a great event. I hope Poland will be the surprise.”
