Iran warns Nigeria over El-Zakzaky
The Iranian government has urged the Nigerian government not to make matters any worse and release the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, Sheikh El-Zakzaky.
This was made known in a statement by the spokesman of the country’s foreign ministry, Hoseyn Jaberi-Ansari while speaking with reporters in Tehran.
“We have used all those channels to warn them [Nigeria] regarding this issue. So hopefully the government… would adopt wise action given the sensitive situation,” Jaberi-Ansari said.
El-Zakzaky had been arrested with other members of the Shia sect when they had attempted to block a convoy of the Chief of Army Staff, Major-General Tukur Yusuf Buratai.
