Everton boss Roberto Martinez who was speaking ahead of his side’s clash with Swansea and he has revealed Kevin Mirallas will not be leaving the club after a string of good performances recently.
“Kevin Mirallas has always been a very important player for us. His performance last weekend was his best this season.
“We hope Kevin can carry on that form now until the end of the season. He won’t be going anywhere.”
Roberto Martinez has also been talking about transfers ahead of the Swansea game.
He says there is nothing to report on moves away for Aiden McGeady or Darron Gibson and has given his views on Steven Naismith and Sam Byram.
“Steven Naismith’s transfer was the best for all parties. We thank him for the memories and wish him all the best.
“We identified Sam Byram as a talent, but in the end it wasn’t right for us with the squad we have and not the right move for him either.”
On Romelu Lukaku He said: “With Rom, the only think that interests me is his next target, he wants to score goals, he wants to become better.
“I think it has been a fantastic journey in the last 13 months, you have seen an evolution in his play that is quite magnificent.
“You are looking at Romelu Lukaku on the verge of getting 100 games for Everton in all competitions. For a 22-year-old that is an incredible landmark.
“More than anything it is because he is reliable, he’s been consistently there, he’s a focal point for us and all I’m looking for him is to carry on becoming even better as a player, which he can, and carry on with a big role in the team. That’s the only thing important for us.”
